Delicate yet elaborate
Simple, yet ornate
All around lovely
For as long as the house of Issey Miyake has been creating his masterpieces, the fashion and fragrance worlds have been held captivated, both by his ingeniously beautiful designs, and by his creative spirit. On the 20 year anniversary of the launch of L’Eau d’Issey, the house of Miyake has launched Pleats Please- a bright, vibrant, sparkling fruity floral that has captured my heart from first sniff.
Pleats Please is a bright, young, and decidedly fresh scent, perfect for the modern girl. The opening is distinctly fruity and sparkling, set by a fruit called nashi, which smells like a hybrid of plum and pear. Upon settling, the fragrance’s floral middle notes of peony and sweet pea, along with indole, serve to mellow the scent out a bit, until it settles with its base of warm vanilla and soft musk. Overall, I’ve become quite addicted to the sparkle and warmth of the scent, embracing it as my spring 2013 fragrance of choice.
The bottle itself is worthy of its own mention, an abstract shape modeled after Miyake’s Bao Bao Bag. The bottle itself is a complex mix of geometric planes, with a cap shaped like a floral calyx. The crystalline peach elixir shines through the bottle.
The Pleats Please collection will be available exclusively at Nordstrom, beginning on December 26, 2012.
