I almost can’t believe it, but it has been a full year since I ventured out on an adventure into uncharted territory- Long Island, to move in with my boyfriend of 8 years. Over the course of this year, suffice it to say that I’ve done quite a bit of exploring in my neighborhood, singling out the places worth my time and money. This post is all about some of the best spots to check out in Huntington, Long Island.
Walt Whitman Mall
I don’t care what anyone says, malls are a staple of suburban life, and the Walt Whitman Mall is certainly better than most. With a store lineup that includes Anthropologie, to BCBG Max Azria, to Bloomingdale’s, you really can’t go wrong.
Besito
If it’s upscale Mexican fare you’re after, Besito is THE PLACE to be. From the trendy atmosphere, to the delicious nouveau Mexican menu, you’d be hard pressed not to love this place. Just be sure to make a reservation, or else you’ll be left out in the cold.
Herrell’s
Speaking of indulgent fare, I must confess that I possess a certain soft spot for treats of the cold and sweet variety. Of course I’m talking about Ice Cream, and if the good stuff is what you’re looking for, then Herrell’s brings it. All homemade on premises, the flavors rotate regularly. Try the cannoli ice cream on a homemade waffle cone, and you’ll know what heaven tastes like.
New York Sports Club
Now you know I couldn’t make mention of spots to visit without bringing up the gym I belong to, right? While the Huntington location isn’t my home gym, it is still a spot I’ll venture to when following some of my favorite Spinning instructors (who rotate between locations), or when working out with one of my good friends. Try Allan’s spin class, and thank me later.
Even better, there is a new addition to Huntington that you will all want to get involved with, very soon. Namely, Nordstrom Rack, Huntington.

RACE THROUGH THE RACK:
Race Through the Rack is a sweepstakes held before Nordstrom Rack store openings. Customers can enter a drawing to win a 90-second, $2,000 shopping spree. The winner’s name is drawn and announced at 8:30 a.m. before the store opens at 9 a.m. (Must be present to win).
