I am a city girl, that much is true, but when Subaru asked me to share my first car story, I just knew that I had to accept.
My first car story does not take place in my own car, but in my boyfriend’s. No car-related memories are stronger to me than the times that we shared over seven years ago, in Florida, in an old red truck of his. It was in that red truck that we shared one of our most special moments, the one I tell of in my story. It was where we were when we first heard our song together, and the moment couldn’t have been more perfect. It was also that truck that first took him away from me (he went to school in Florida for some time early on), and then brought him back to me when it was done. That red truck wasn’t much to look at, but it was ours, and I know that we will both always have so many wonderful memories associated with it. Writing my first car story brought me way back, that much is true. We’ve been together over seven years now, and have gone through many trucks since, but that red one will always be special.
Everyone loved their first car. No matter how beat up or broken down, it was a taste of freedom and you loved it. Even though it lasted only for a brief time, that emotional connection is an experience that unites us all.
