When it comes to skincare, I am a huge fan of everything scientific. From advanced formulations, to innovative ingredients, to new techniques; I love to be dazzled with science at its most advanced. That being said, it’s time to take another trip to science class, this time examining the SkinCeuticals Skincare line.

To understand how SkinCeuticals works, one must first note that the free radicals in our everyday environment are incredibly damaging to the skin, causing unsavory mutations that lead to premature aging, and even worse, disease. Phloretin CF Gel is an antioxidant serum-in-a-gel designed to protect the skin from free radical damage, while stimulating the production of skin-boosting collagen and increasing cell turnover rate. Phloretin CF is formulated with a combination of 2% phloretin, 10% vitamin C, and 0.5% ferulic acid.
AOX+ Eye Gel is an eye gel designed to neutralize free radicals and protect the skin from free radicals and premature aging. AOX+ Eye Gel is formulated with ferulic acid, and 5% pure Vitamin C.
I’ve made several mentions of SkinCeuticals serum-in-a-gel formulation. To elaborate a bit on that, the products themselves have a gelled consistency and feel. The actives are suspended in acidic serum, which then make contact with the skin and release targeted antioxidants that are designed to deeply penetrate the pores. What all of that really comes down to however, is an individual’s preference towards a particular product texture and feel. The gel is cooler, slicker, and a bit more substantial (to me, at least), than its aqueous counterparts. The gel is also gentler than a traditional serum, making it ideal for sensitive skin. Therein lies the benefit of the serum-in-gel formula.
