In the spirit of all that is new, fun, and utterly funky, I made a decision not too long ago to go all out on my mane this fashion week. I wanted something new, something different, something a little bit krasey.

It all started with a rather long session on the elliptical. After watching Katy Perry’s Firework on the small screen in front of me, inspiration hit. I decided that I wanted a look that was fresh, fun, and most importantly, purple! I wanted dark hair with violet tips, and I decided that stylist Vince Smith, of the Vince Smith experience, was just the person to do it.

I arrived at the Vince Smith Experience salon in Battery Park City this past Friday, with a hundred ideas and a dream, of finally having the purple hair I’ve craved for ages. After two consecutive hair conditioning and clarifying treatments, I was ready for Vince’s skillful hands to first cut the dead, dull ends off my mane, and then shape my hair into lush, wavy perfection.

Vince and I then discussed the color we were going for overall. We decided that a permanent rich medium dark mahogany brown with red/burgundy towns was par for the course, and with that it was off to color. It came out perfectly, as if I were expecting any less.

After a blowdry, it was time for the star of the show, the violet extensions. Another stylist, Viktorya, began sectioning my hair, and then applying 30 pieces of Platinum Seamless Violet hair extensions, focusing on my bangs, and the front portion of my hair. The extensions are bonded with keratin, and a special iron.

Extensions in place, I was ready for another trim by Vince, and a final curl. Voila, the final look!

To say that I am anything less than utterly thrilled with my new hair would be a vast understatement. Vince expertly crafted a look that was stylish, fresh, funky, and chic. Not to mention, the man is a pleasure to be in the company of.
