Let the Sun Shine in with Retro Chic Sunnies from Polaroid Eyewear

    By: Adina

    Polaroid Sunnies

Now that we are finally seeing that great big yellow ball in the sky some more (yay), I feel much obliged to discuss stylish sun protection options for those windows to your soul. Yes, I am talking about sunglasses, folks!

To say that I have a slight obsession with shades would be a vast understatement, as I have made it my personal mission to buy up every chic pair I see. From the bold and colorful plastic, to futuristic metallic, to delightfully sporty mirrored models, I seem to have a pair that represents each group rather nicely.  Nevertheless, I found that my collection was missing that something special. I needed a pair of frames that would set themselves apart from the rest. What I needed was a pair of retro shades.

Wouldn’t you know it, the cure to my shade boredom would come during Fashion Week, at a Polaroid Presentation at Style 360. I had a bit of a moment, as I gazed upon dozens of pairs sunglasses that I had never seen the likes of before. New for this Spring/Summer Season, Polaroid Eyewear has launched a collection of frames for guys and gals, modeled after the decades. The collection is called Best Under the Sun, and the selection absolutely rocks.

Did you know that Polaroid did sunglasses before they ever started dabbling in cameras? The inventors of the polarized lens (get it, Polaroid & Polarized?!), Polaroid has been cranking out stylish lenses since 1937. When it comes to blocking out the glare of the sun, the polarized lens is your golden standard.

In terms of styles, Best Under the Sun offers every type of retro style for both guys and girls. From the cat eye frames of the 40s and 50’s, to the large colorful plastic frames of the 60’s, to the aviators of the 70’s, and onward, there is a particular style to match each decade and personality. My new love is the Broadway, a groovy pair of black and white cat eye frames that assert themselves as awesome. Fun, fashionable, lightweight and incredibly comfortable to wear, these frames have become a fast favorite.

The Polaroid Best Under the Sun collection is currently available both online, and at various retail outlets nationwide. When it comes to protecting those peepers from the sun, vintage shades never looked so chic.

love the look of those glasses on the top of this post… I am so jealous of anyone that can get their hands on a pair of those! They are so me! But anything in the movie star of the hay days look are my favorites… so 40′s, 50′s and 60′s frames are the ones I go nuts over. Thank you for the article… I am going over to Polaroid to check out the frames, drool and dream now.
